Neal Brown Provides Latest Injury Update Ahead of Baylor Matchup

Multiple Mountaineer starters will be out for yet another week as West Virginia attempts to salvage their 2024 season.

WVU defeated Cincinnati on the road Saturday, improving their record to 5-4 (4-2 in the Big 12). Now, they’ll host Baylor this week, looking to win their third straight.

West Virginia head coach Neal Brown provided the latest injury updates on Monday.

“This week on defense (Ayden) Garnes and (Aubrey) Burks will continue to be out and then on offense (Jaden) Bray will be out,” Brown said.

All three have missed multiple games. He mentioned that he was unsure if the two defenders will be able to return during the regular season saying they were “highly questionable for any regular season games”, but last week said that Bray was trendiing in the right direction and said that if he didn’t return against Baylor, he was expecting him back for UCF (Nov. 23).

Another injury that has been lingering is senior quarterback Garrett Greene’s. Greene has been out since the first half of a loss to Kansas State on Oct. 19, but was available as the emergency quarterback against Cincinnati.

“Garrett practiced today. We’ll see how he does tomorrow when it’s 11 on 11 stuff,” Brown said. “We’ll see how the week goes on him.”

The last injury Brown touched upon, was redshirt sophomore wide receiver Hudson Clement’s. Clement missed the game against Cincinnati due to injury, but Brown is hopeful he’ll be back against Baylor.

“Hudson ran today off on the side. So, I’m hopeful for him,” Brown said.

Saturday’s game against Baylor kicks off at 4 p.m. EST and will be televised on ESPN2.
