According to college football insider Pete Thamel’s sources, Nebraska is hiring former West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen as an offensive consultant.
Holgorsen was previously Houston’s head coach from 2019-2023. After a 4-8 season, in their first season in Big 12 last year, he was fired by Houston.
Holgorsen coached West Virginia from 2011-2018, had a 41-21 overall record, went 2-5 in bowl games and had the Mountaineers ranked as high as No. 5 in the AP poll. He left WVU after the 2018 season to take the Houston job.
Nebraska is currently 5-4. They’ve lost three straight after starting the season 5-1 in their first six games.
The Cornhuskers are coached by former Baylor and Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule. They’ve scored just 15.25 points per game in their last four games after averaging 30.8 points ppg in their first five games.
