ESPN Ranks Tucker DeVries Among Top College Basketball Players

West Virginia transfer guard Tucker DeVries was ranked as the No. 33 best men’s basketball player on ESPN’s Top 100 player list for the upcoming season.

DeVries is entering his first season in Morgantown after following his dad, Darian DeVries, who was named the 23rd head coach in program history in March. He is coming off a season at Drake, where he averaged 21.6 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 44.4% from the field and 36.3% from the three-point line.

DeVries scored 18 points, had four assists, two rebounds, two steals and a block in West Virginia’s exhibition against UCharleston (DII).

The article by Jeff Borzello and Myron Medcalf states: “DeVries opted to follow his father, Darian, when he left Drake to take the West Virginia job. And much like he was in the Missouri Valley, DeVries will now be the focal point of his team’s offense in the Big 12. He averaged 21.6 points last season, winning his second straight Missouri Valley Player of the Year award. His size and shooting will translate to the big leagues.”

The Mountaineers will open their season Monday, Nov. 4, at home against Robert Morris at 7 PM EST. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
