West Virginia alum Beanie Bishop was given an opportunity to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers and he hasn’t looked back since.
He was recently named the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Month for October.
In Bishop’s lone year with the Mountaineers, he recorded 67 tackles (third on the team), 4 interceptions (first on the team), and a nation-leading 20 pass breakups.
Bishop went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft but later signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent. He made the 53-man roster and went on to earn a starting spot in the Pittsburgh secondary.
Bishop has played in all four of the Steelers’ games this October, starting in two, during a stretch during which the Steelers have gone 3-1. In those four games, he has recorded 14 solo tackles, 5 pass breakups, and 3 interceptions (tied for first on the team).
His three interceptions came against both New York teams, the Jets and the Giants. Last week on “Monday Night Football,” he hauled in the game-winning interception thrown by Daniel Jones, securing a 26-18 win. The previous week, on “Sunday Night Football,” he intercepted future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers twice.
Bishop has made an immediate impact for the Steelers and has been a key part of their strong start to the season. The team currently sits at 6-2, first in the AFC North.
Pittsburgh has a bye this week. On Sunday, Nov. 10, they will take on the Washington Commanders on the road.
