Arizona and West Virginia are two struggling teams that will face off this week for the first time in history.
The Wildcats are in their first season in the Big 12 and have struggled in conference play. WVU hasn’t played their best football either, having dropped games to four currently ranked teams.
Both teams share a 3-4 record. The Mountaineers are 2-2 in Big 12 play, while Arizona is 1-3 in Big 12 play.
The Wildcats have lost three straight. They have been outscored 103 to 48 in those three games and have a -5 turnover margin. Two losses were at home, and the other came from a ranked opponent (BYU).
West Virginia has lost back-to-back games, both at home. They were outscored 73 to 34 in those two games and had four turnovers without forcing one.
This season, Arizona ranks 69th in total offense and 70th in total defense. West Virginia ranks 55th in total offense and is tied for 87th in total defense.
Both teams will be hungry for a win as they face off for the first time on Saturday. Kickoff from Tuscon is set for 7 p.m. EST and the game will be televised on FS1.
