Senior offensive tackle Ja’Quay Hubbard explained what backup quarterback Nicco Marchiol brings to the table if Garrett Greene can’t play on Saturday.
In Saturday’s blowout loss to No.16 Kansas State starting Quarterback Garrett Greene did not play in the second half of the game due to injury, if he cant go this weekend in Arizona it will be backup Nicco Marchiol.
In Monday’s press conference senior offensive tackle Ja’Quay Hubbard expressed confidence in backup Nicco Marchiol.
“Nicco he’s a competitor first and foremost, he doesn’t want to let his guys down, and he loves the game,” Hubbard said when asked what Nicco Marchiol brings to the table for the offense.
In the second half of Saturday’s game, Nicco Marchiol completed six of his 13 pass attempts for 58 yards and a touchdown.
“He gets mental reps every time Garrett is either in the game or in practice” Hubbard displays a sense of confidence in Nicco Marchiols ability to step in and take over the offense due to his work ethic and desire to improve every day even as the backup.
“We believe in him, he believes in us and we have Nicco’s back,” Hubbard said in Monday press conference.
Hubbard also said the team is in a “backs-against-the-wall mentality” going into another Big 12 matchup on the road against Arizona at 7:00 PM EST on Saturday.
