At least five Mountaineers will be on the injury report this week as the team travels to Arizona.
Some will be questionable, game-time decisions, or outright out. Monday, WVU head coach Neal Brown spoke on the latest regarding his player statuses.
“Wyatt (Milum) too early to tell, will know later in the week. Same with Garrett (Greene). Jahiem (White), I feel good about. I think by the middle of the week he’ll be able to go,” Brown said.
Greene, Milum and White all didn’t return in the second half for West Virginia in their loss to Kansas State after suffering their injuries in the first half.
Brown also spoke on players who didn’t play at all against Kansas State.
“Jaden Bray will still be, I think he’ll be out this week. We have a chance to get him back after the bye,” Brown said.
Bray didn’t play against Iowa State and Kansas State. On the season he has two catches for 88 yards.
“Aubrey Burks will not he won’t be available this week. (Ayden) Garnes, hopeful I think I hope hopefully he’ll be practicing by Wednesday,” Brown said.
The pair of defensive backs did not play against Kansas State. Burks has been a staple in WVU’s defense since last year and is one of their more highly-regarded defenders.
Speaking further on his quarterback, Brown reiterated that it is too early to tell where his status lies for the upcoming game. He did say that he didn’t practice today, however.
“We’ll just see, we’ll see how it goes. I think it’s too early to tell on any of that. He didn’t practice today and so I’m not saying he’s out. I think it’s too early to tell,” Brown said.
Talking about Milum, Brown stated how he just makes the team that much better when he’s on the field and how good of a player he truly is.
“He is a great player and he’s playing at a super-high level, so will we miss him? Yes. Are we better when he plays? Absolutely,” Brown said of Milum.
West Virginia takes on Arizona at 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, hopeful to have some of their biggest difference-makers healthy. The game will be televised on FS1.
