It was a memorable night for Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop, who claimed his first and second career NFL interceptions in a 37-15 win over the New York Jets Sunday night.
Bishop spent one year at West Virginia in 2023, where he led the nation in passes defended and was a consensus All-American cornerback. He went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft in April but signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent.
Bishop’s first interception came with less than a minute and a half left in the second quarter, when Pittsburgh was down by nine. They capitalized on the turnover with a touchdown to go up before halftime.
His second interception came around the middle of the third quarter. He almost returned it for a touchdown but was down at the one-yard line. The Steelers capitalized with a touchdown again, going up by eight points in the second half.
The rookie also had six total tackles (five solo), including a tackle for loss in the game. On the season, he now has 17 solo tackles, four passes defended, two interceptions and half a sack.
The Steelers are now 5-2 on the season and will play in primetime again next week when they host the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.
