Stat Recap: West Virginia routed at home by No. 17 Kansas State during homecoming game

WVU dominated by No. 17 Kansas State at home 45-18 in the team’s homecoming game.

WVU led the game in time of possession 34:22 to Kansas State’s 25:38.

West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene recorded a season-low passer rating (81.3) and quarterback rating (50.1) completing nine of his 19 passing attempts for 85 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions with on being a pick-six.

Kansas State senior safety Marques Sigle scored his first touchdown since 2022 when he was with North Dakota State University.

Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson had a season-high passer rating (186) and quarterback rating (96.5) completing 19 of his 29 attempts for 298 yards and three passing touchdowns.

WVU was able to outrush Kansas State 152-116 with Garrett Greene being the leading rusher with 89.

West Virginia backup quarterback Nicco Marchiol entered the game in the second half and completed six of his 13 pass attempts for 53 yards and a touchdown.

Kansas State had eight accepted defensive penalties in the game for 91 yards.

The Mountaineers will travel to take on Arizona next Saturday at 7:00 pm EST, looking to get their record back to even at 4-4.
