The No. 1 ranked West Virginia men’s soccer team posted its 5th shutout of the season, 1-0, over USC at home on Saturday.
While the game remained scoreless until the end, the Mountaineers dominated offensively with 20 shots on goal. USC trailed far behind with only four.
With just 1:45 left on the clock, freshman midfielder Isaac Scheer found the back of the net for the second time this season. He was assisted by senior Frederik Jorgensen and graduate student Sergio Ors Navarro.
Goalkeepers Marc Bonnaire (WVU) and Filip Versterre (USC) each made two saves. Neither team received penalty cards or ejections.
WVU’s record is 9-1-3 (4-0-1 in the Sun Belt). They will continue conference play against Georgia State on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at home.
