Coming off a successful season in which they made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament, the West Virginia women’s basketball team was ranked at No. 16 in the Preseason AP Poll.
They were one of four Big 12 teams ranked, the lowest of all four. Iowa State is the highest-ranked at No. 8, followed by Baylor at No. 12 and Kansas State at No. 13.
Mark Kellogg and his squad were 25-8 overall last season and 12-6 in conference. Many of the team’s mainstays are returning, such as guard combo JJ Quinerly and Jordan Harrison.
The Mountaineers have also added some pieces like Auburn transfer Sydney Shaw.
WVU opens their season on Nov. 5 at home against Towson.
