While West Virginia’s loss to Iowa State on Saturday wasn’t the result they hoped for, the highly anticipated debut of their black and gray uniforms released this summer was met with high praise.
The jerseys that honor the state’s coal mining history and industry were ranked as the best college football uniform in Week 7 by UNISWAG, a popular social media account that ranks uniforms weekly and shares uniform news.
WVU may continue to wear the alternate uniform for a big matchup at least once annually, but it is unknown when fans can expect their return and if they will be worn more than once a year.
