WVU Women’s Soccer Suffers First Loss in Conference Play

WVU women’s soccer allowed three unanswered goals to No. 12 TCU to lose its first game since the start of Big-12 conference play.

The first half ended in a scoreless tie. The Mountaineers were outshot seven to three in TCU’s favor, and both teams had one shot on goal.

The game’s first goal came in the 51st minute courtesy of junior forward Taylor White, her fifth of the season.

WVUc couldn’t hold the lead for very long as TCU’s AJ Hennessey answered 25 seconds later to even the score at one apiece.

TCU scored once again in the 57th minute, this time with a goal by Morgan Brown. They would go on to score once again in the 70th minute to take the lead 3-1.

The Mountaineers were dominated in the second half, allowing 14 shots while only getting four.

Thursday’s loss was the Mountaineers’ first in conference play. Their record now is 9-3-2 and 5-1-1 in conference play.

WVU will look to bounce back on the road Sunday at 2 p.m. EST against Baylor. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
