It was a dominating performance by the Mountaineers on Saturday against Oklahoma State that showcased WVU’s great rushing attack behind one of the country’s best offensive lines.
Wyatt Milum, a projected first round in the 2025 NFL Draft by multiple accounts, spoke to the chemistry in the offensive line room and just how powerful it is.
“I just feel like our chemistry is great in the room. It may just be one person not getting their guy on one play that keeps us away from having an explosive run or long touchdown. I just think that everyone did a great job on Saturday just doing their job.”
Behind Milum and the rest of the O-Line, the Mountaineers rushed for 389 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. With six yards per carry as a team, everyone who carried the ball for WVU seemed to have wide open holes including Jahiem White who finished with 158 yards and a touchdown on just 18 carries.
“I felt like we had a great game plan going into the week,” Milum said. “I felt like we were really fluid and I felt like the communication and the film study we had on them prepared us for a good game.”
There were some question marks coming into the season surrounding the WVU offensive line’s ability to produce like they did a season ago with the loss of two now NFL players, Zach Frazier and Doug Nester. However, after Saturday’s performance, fans now see what Milum has known his whole career at WVU: the O-Line will always be good.
“I’ve been here with the same guys my whole college career. It’s been a building process, so just because (Zach) Frazier and Doug (Nester) left, our chemistry is just the same because we grew up with each other in college and we know how to work together.”
The Mountaineers now sit at 2-0 in conference play and have their biggest test to date coming up against 11th ranked Iowa State. The game will be WVU’s first ever Coal Rush block-out game in Milan Puskar Stadium with kickoff set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
