On Thursday, West Virginia women’s basketball guard JJ Quinerly was unanimously named to the preseason All-Big 12 team.
Quinerly is entering her senior year for the Mountaineers, who were recently ranked the No. 5 ranked team in the Big-12 preseason poll.
Coming off her junior season, she was named the Big 12 defensive player of the year and a Big 12 first team. Quinerly averaged 19.8 points per game, which ranks fifth all-time for WVU, and was good for 25th in the country while shooting 46.2% from the field. Her 652 points last season was a career-high and seventh-most all-time for a Mountaineer.
The senior guard was unanimously named to the preseason 2024-2025 All-Big 12 team, meaning she received a vote from everyone who had a vote. She was one of three unanimous selections.
Quinerly looks to advance the Mountaineers further in the tournament this year after they lost to Iowa in the second round of the NCAA tournament last year.
The WVU women’s basketball season will kick off on Nov. 5 at home against Towson at 7 p.m. EST.
