A Look at JJ Wetherholt’s First Pro Ball Season

J.J. Wetherholt, a recent West Virginia University baseball alum and the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, concluded his first season in the minor leagues with the Palm Beach Cardinals, the St. Louis Cardinals’ single-A affiliate.

Palm Beach won the Florida State League (FSL) Championship over the Lakeland Flying Tigers, the Single-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. Wetherholt had a great regular season but an even better postseason. He started in 24 games during the regular season and in all five playoff games. He was also named the FSL Player of the Week on September 8.

Wetherholt is ranked as St.Louis’ No. 1 prospect and the No. 16 prospect in all of baseball. His stats from the regular and postseason are listed below.
