On Thursday, WVU quarterback Garrett Greene was named to the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Watchlist.
Named to honor 17-year NFL veteran, two-time All-Pro, and Walter Payton Man of the Year winner Jason Witten, the award is “presented annually to the FBS college football player who has demonstrated a record of leadership by exhibiting exceptional courage, integrity, and sportsmanship both on and off the field. The award honors the type of exemplary character and commitment to community, family, and teammates,” according to Witten’s website. West Virginia nominated Greene, as all other athletes on the watchlist were nominated by their schools.
Twenty semifinalists will be selected on Oct. 22, and three finalists will be chosen on Dec. 16. The winner will be announced on Feb. 12, 2025, in a ceremony at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys, where Witten spent most of his career.
This nomination adds to the list of watchlist and preseason honors Greene has received. The senior was also named a William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist earlier this week.
