Former Mountaineer Waived by Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets waived former West Virginia guard Raequan Battle on Wednesday.

Battle signed an Exhibit 10 deal with Charlotte this offseason after going undrafted. He appeared in three summer league games and averaged 7.0 points per game in 10 minutes per game while shooting 50% from the field and 41.7% from the arc.

The 6-foot-5 guard from Tulalip, Washington, spent one season with West Virginia, playing in 22 games and averaging 16.1 points and four rebounds per game. Battle missed a good portion at the beginning of the season due to eligibility problems as a two-time transfer but was eventually granted permission to play. He had season-highs in his first two games against Radford and Toledo with 29 points.
