West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene has been named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy.
The National Football Foundation presents the trophy to the college football player who best combines academics, community service, and performance. Oregon’s Bo Nix won the trophy last season.
Greene, a senior from Tallahassee, has been the Mountaineers’ starter for two seasons and was Academic All-Big 12 for the last three seasons. He has also been an active member of the Morgantown community, as can be seen by his work with the WVU Children’s Hospital and his Champsraise campaign.
12-18 Finalists will be announced on Oct. 23, with each finalist receiving an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. The winner will be selected on Dec. 10 during the NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 10, their postgraduate scholarship will also increase to $25,000.
