Heading into Week 5 of the college football season, West Virginia is now on their bye week following a 32-28 victory over Kansas.
The bye comes at great timing for the Mountaineers as several players were “banged up” in the victory. WVU head coach Neal Brown gave a schedule for the bye week.
“As far as how we’re handling the bye, I should say too, is just meeting today (Monday); we’ll practice Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Coaches will be on the road recruiting on Friday, some on Saturday, and then we’ll practice on Sunday, and Monday will be our off day next week, so that’s kind of how we’re handling the week,” Brown said.
WVU will have another bye week on Nov. 2. Brown spoke about having that second bye week and how the bye weeks will affect his team.
“I think it’s a positive for us just because of our schedule, the way it plays out. We play 11 really good teams, and so I think it’ll help us,” Brown said. “We’ve got a really tough stretch coming off this bye, and this gives us an opportunity to kind of catch our breath a little bit, get healthy, and then we got a really stretch in between the two bye weeks. And so we’ll take it, I like it, I think the first one comes at a good time the second one comes at a good time.”
After this first bye week, West Virginia will travel to play Oklahoma State on Oct. 5 in its second conference game of the season.
