Anthony Becht Reflects on Mountaineer Career, Sends Thanks, Reiterates Future Visit

Former West Virginia tight end was one of three football players and eight athletes in total inducted into the 2024 WVU Sports Hall of Fame Class.

Becht played for the Mountaineers in the late 1990s and was a second-round selection by the New York Jets in the 2000 NFL Draft after a standout career in Morgantown. Following an 11-year NFL career, Becht remained close and is now the head coach of the St.Louis Battlehawls of the UFL.

While he couldn’t attend Saturday’s induction, he was still recognized and will attend Milan Puskar Stadium in the future. In a nearly 19-minute video posted to social media Monday, Becht expressed his gratitude by sending thanks, reflected on his WVU career, and reiterated that he’d be in Morgantown when his son Rocco, Iowa State’s quarterback, plays West Virginia on Oct. 12 so that he can get all his loved ones there.
