The Mountaineers will host Kansas on Saturday in their first game of Big 12 play.
West Virginia and Kansas’ football history dates back to 1941. The two programs played at the old Mountaineer Field, and WVU won 21-0.
Since then, they have only played in conference matchups 11 years straight, starting when the Mountaineers joined the Big 12 in 2012. West Virginia won the first conference game in 2012 59-10, but dropped the next one 31-19.
Following that, WVU won eight straight before losing their most recent matchup in 2022, 55-42, in overtime. This makes WVU 4-1 in their last five matchups against Kansas, 8-2 in their last ten and 10-2 overall.
West Virginia’s largest margin of victory was 49-0 in 2015, and their smallest was 29-24 in 2019. They are 6-1 at home and 4-1 on the road.
The Mountaineers have scored 466 points against KU, averaging 38.83 a game.
Kickoff Saturday is scheduled for noon EST. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
