After coming off a productive season where he saw action, West Virginia sophomore wide receiver Traylon Ray says he feels even better in
Ray looks to adopt an even bigger role in the Mountaineers’ offense as a top receiver. He is coming off a strong freshman campaign in which he recorded 18 receptions for 321 yards and three touchdowns.
Ray helped the Mountaineers get out to an early 7-0 lead in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl with a 75-yard touchdown reception on the first offensive play of the game. Ray went on to finish the bowl game with three catches for 91 yards and a touchdown in a Mountaineers 30-10 win over UNC.
“I’m better, I’m stronger, faster,” Ray said. “I’m in the return game now. I know my coaches got faith in me with the ball in my hands.”
So far this season, through two games, Ray has seven receptions, which leads the Mountaineers for 72 yards, the second most on the team behind Hudson Clement.
Ray looks to continue building on his freshman year. WVU will travel to Pittsburgh for the 107th edition of the Backyard Brawl on Saturday, Sept. 14th, at 3:30 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on ESPN 2.
