WVU Volleyball uses reverse sweep to take down North Dakota State

WVU Volleyball were on the ropes early after dropping the first two sets against North Dakota State in the first game of the NDSU/UND Tournament Friday night. The team was able to battle back and complete the reverse sweep to improve to 3-1 on the year.

The Mountaineers dropped the first two sets 24-26 and 11-25, before responding and grabbing the next three all in close fashion 25-20, 25-23 and 15-9.

Junior outside hitter Quincey Coyle capped the match with her sixteenth kill of the night, marking a career high. Additionally, Coyle notched a second career high with 11 digs, collecting her first double-double of the season.

Sophomore middle blocker Maddy McGath also had a career outing against the Bisons, tallying fifteen kills on a .737 clip along with four total blocks.

Graduate student libero Sydney Reed collected 15 of WVU’s 56 digs, while redshirt junior outside hitter Cassidy Tanton added a career best with 12.

The Mountaineers will continue the NDSU/UND Tournament throughout the weekend on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The next matchup for WVU is Northern Iowa on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET and can be streamed on ESPN+.
