On Friday news broke of the passing of former West Virginia men’s basketball player Charles Becton.
The 6-foot-7 forward played for the Mountaineers from 1989-1991 and was an Atlantic 10 All-Conference Third Team remember in 1990. That season, Becton averaged 14.1 points per game (14th in the Nation), 7.6 rebounds per game (6th in the nation) and 1.5 steals per game (11th in the nation). He was a captain in 1991.
Darryl Prue, a member of the WVU Sports Hall of Fame, announced the unfortunate news on Facebook. Becton, born on June 8, 1970, was 54 years old.
