West Virginia Shuts Out JMU

The West Virginia Women’s soccer team defeated James Madison 2-0 on Thursday.

The Mountaineers got out to an early 1-0 lead in the 18th minute with a goal scored by junior forward Ajanae Repass. West Virginia dominated in total shots in the first half with eight to JMU’s one.

In the 47th minute, Ajanae Repass scored her second goal of the game and her team-leading 4th of the season.

James Madison’s one shot on goal in the first half was the only one all game. West Virginia’s starting goaltender Bailey Herfurth was ejected from the game after getting a red card for denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity in the 49th minute. Backup Mackenzie Smith came in and played the rest of the game recording the lone save for the Mountaineers.

West Virginia improves to 4-2 on the season. They will host Liberty on Sunday, September 8th at 1 pm. The game will be available on ESPN+.
