Legendary college football coach Nick Saban grew up just south of Morgantown in Fairmont, West Virginia.
Now retired, he became a member of ESPN’s College Game Day crew. When discussing the Penn State vs West Virginia game, Saban recalled a memory he has of watching Mountaineer football and stated what WVU means to him.
“You know there’s only a few memories you have as a kid that are kind of a lifelong thing. And when I was a young kid, maybe nine years old, my dad took me to the Penn State, West Virginia game. And the greatest anticipation of my life, I was to see Penn State and Joe Paterno run out on the field and I still remember that like it was yesterday,” Saban said. “So, I’m a Mountaineer at heart and I’m all for the Mountaineers and I always root for the Mountaineers.”
