Big Game Boomer, a college sports account that has accumulated over two hundred thousand followers across Instagram and X, gave West Virginia football a 12-0 ceiling and 5-7 floor in a post made Thursday.
For those who are unaware, ceiling and floors are prediction of a team’s ability. For example, if the Mountaineers play to their full potential and everything goes in their direction, BGG predicts that they can go 12-0 in the regular season. On the contrary, if WVU plays below expectations and falls into trouble, they predict that they’ll finish 5-7.
Other teams that were given a 12-0 ceiling include, Appalachian State, Georgia, Kansas, Liberty, Memphis, Miami (FL), Michigan, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas State, UCF and Virginia Tech. Out of all the teams given a 12-0 ceiling, WVU was the only with a losing record for their floor. West Virginia faces Kansas, Oklahoma State and UCF this season as apart of conference play.
No. 8 Penn State, who West Virginia host in their season opener was given a 10-2 ceiling. Other prominent CFB teams such as No. 2 Ohio State and No. 5 Alabama were given an 11-1 ceiling.
