West Virginia sports Hall of Famer Bruce Irvin made a post hinting at visiting WVU.
“@wrenbaker see u soon wren!” Irvin posted on X, mentioning WVU’s athletic director.
Irvin played with the Mountaineers from 2010-2011 after beginning his collegiate career at the JUCO level. He received All-America honors in both of those seasons.
The Seattle Seahawks selected Irvin in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft, No. 15 overall. He won Super Bowl XLVII with the Seahawks.
The Atlanta native also played for the then Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears. He was signed lalast season by the Detroit Lions and then later by the Miami Dolphins in hopes of helping bolstering their defense for a playoff run.
In his NFL career he 344 total tackles (235 solo), including 70 tackles for loss, 56.5 sacks, 16 forced fumbles, three forced fumbles and three interceptions. The 36-year-old made a visit to Morgantown last season against Texas Tech when he was inducted into the WVU Sports Hall of Fame.
