ESPN Lists Sean Martin as Sleeper College Football Player for 2024

West Virginia defensive lineman Sean Martin was featured on ESPN Senior Writer Adam Rittenberg’s list for “What sleeper college football players could break out in the 2024 season?”.

Martin, entering his senior season, is looking to end his career as a Mountaineer with big numbers in 2024. Last season the product of Bluefield, West Virginia started all 13 games, had 27 tackles, including five tackles for loss and one sack. Martin’s best numbers came during his sophomore season in 2022 when he had 34 tackles, including eight tackles for loss, four sacks and one forced fumble.

“Martin is a familiar name to West Virginia fans, given his roots within the state and time in the program. But he could emerge as a bigger name within the league and nationally, as he enters his third season as a starter,” Rittenberg wrote about Martin in the article. “Martin has a big frame and the ability to disrupt offenses in different ways. He had four sacks in 2022 and 13 tackles for loss over the past two seasons. After being limited in practices last fall by illness, Martin has been a full participant this offseason.”

While Martin may not be the loudest guy on the sidelines and on the field, he looks to lead by example for WVU in 2024. As a senior who has seen a lot of playing in his time in Morgantown, he will be looked to as a veteran leader for the Mountaineers defense this season.
