West Virginia Ranks 25th on PFF Preseason Top 25

The Mountaineers were the final team featured in Pro Football Focus’s Preseason Top 25 released earlier this week.

The “bottom line” for West Virginia being on the list is simple: “With one of the most explosive offenses in the conference, West Virginia could surprise a lot of teams in the Big 12 once again.”

The Big 12 has six total representatives in the Top 25. Arizona ranked highest on the list at 11 after a 10-3 season capped off by an Alamo Bowl win. The other four teams representing the conference are Kansas State at 19, Utah at 20, Oklahoma State at 22 and Kansas at 23.

Penn State is the only opponent in the rankings for West Virginia, outside of the Big 12. They came in at No. 9, with their defense impressing many. However, PFF notes that Penn State’s passing game will determine their ceiling.
