Will “Goose” Crowder has won the starting quarterback job for the Troy Trojans, according to reports. Crowder served as a depth piece with West Virginia over the course of two seasons.
Crowder transferred to Troy after his redshirt freshman season, seeing action in all 14 games the Trojans played last season. He primarily served as the team’s holder, but saw five games at quarterback.
Troy’s new offensive coordinator, Sean Reagan, was Crowder’s quarterback coach at West Virginia.
Crowder takes over the job from Gunnar Watson, who graduated after spent four years as Troy’s starting quarterback. Watson led Troy to a 28-14 record as a starter and two Sun Belt Championships. He threw for more than 10,000 yards and 65 touchdowns during his career.
