Taylor Named to John Mackey Award Watch List

NEW YORK (August 9, 2024) – Senior tight end Kole Taylor has been named to the 2024 John Mackey Award Watch List, as announced by the Friends of John Mackey.

Given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, the award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award selection committee.

Taylor played 13 games, including 11 starts for WVU in 2023 after transferring from LSU. He earned All-Big 12 Conference Second Team honors after leading the Mountaineers with 35 catches for 444 yards and four touchdowns. His numbers were good enough for fifth place on the school’s single-season tight end receptions list and No. 6 for receiving yards.

The Mackey Award will announce the eight semifinalists on Tuesday, Oct. 29, while the finalists will be named on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

The John Mackey Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association. Founded in 1997, the NCFAA includes college football’s most prestigious awards and its 24 awards have honored more than 900 recipients dating back to 1935.
