West Virginia men’s basketball kept the good times rolling overseas, as they defeated Stella#EBK by a final score of 107-53.
The Italian basketball academy held their own through the first quarter, only trailing 33-23. However, Tucker DeVries led the Mountaineers with 19 points in the first quarter alone.
The second quarter is where the tide shifted, with West Virginia ending the half with a 24-8 quarter. Shooting 10-22 from beyond the arc as a team in the opening 20 minutes, the Mountaineers led 57-31 at halftime. DeVries had 26 points at halftime, followed by Jayden Stone’s 13 points.
For the second half, the Mountaineers outscored Stella#EBK 50-22 en route to a dominant 54 point win. This completes a three game sweep for West Virginia’s Italy trip this summer. In those three games, the Mountaineers won by an average of 41 points. Their victory margin also increased game to game, going from 25 points, to 44, to 54 with today’s win.
DeVries lead all scorers with the aforementioned 26 point half. Jonathan Powell connected on four 3-point field goals and finished with 16 points. Jayden Stone finished with 15 points, while Javon Small had 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jake Auer had 11 points, four assists and two steals, while Sencire Harris had nine points to go with six rebounds. Toby Okani had seven points with seven rebounds, and Ofri Naveh also added seven points. Amani Hansberry also had four points for the Mountaineers.

The Mountaineers will return to the United States this Saturday. They will take a break until the beginning of the fall semester, August 21st.
