Jorgensen Named Defender to Watch by United Soccer Coaches

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Aug. 6, 2024)  West Virginia University men’s soccer senior Frederik Jorgensen has been named a defender to watch by United Soccer Coaches.

Jorgensen has played 63 games in three seasons with the Mountaineers with 55 starts. He has four goals in his career to go along with seven assists, including four last year, second-most on the team.

A key piece of the WVU back line, he contributed to a defense in 2023 that allowed just 0.96 goals per game while posting nine shutouts as the Mountaineers went 17-3-4 on their way to their first College Cup appearance.

The Aarhus, Denmark native was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Second Team as well as the All-Sun Belt Second Team a season ago.

Jorgensen and the Mountaineers will kick off the 2024 campaign on Thursday, Aug. 22 when they take on Purdue Fort Wayne at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
