Both WVU graduates appeared high on the Pittsburgh Steelers initial depth chart, which was released earlier this afternoon.
Beanie Bishop Jr. is listed as the first team nickel cornerback in the Steelers’ depth chart over Grayland Arnold and Cameron Sutton. Bishop has impressed many who have watched the Steelers over the summer, including Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine. “The 5’9″, 182-pound corner ran a blazing fast 4.39-second 40 in the predraft process. He’s a fierce competitor who plays much more physically than expected for someone his size. Bishop’s willingness to mix it up with receivers, and the general youth movement in the Steelers cornerback room, have him headed for an actual role on the defense.”
Zach Frazier is listed as the second team center behind Nate Herbig in the same depth chart. Frazier is listed ahead of two players at his position, with Ryan McCollum and Anderson Hardy behind him. Herbig is entering his sixth season in the NFL, playing with the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets before joining Pittsburgh last season. He has primarily played offensive guard, not center, throughout his career thus far. While Frazier was initially assumed to be a day one starter, it looks like he’ll have some competition throughout the preseason.
