The award has featured prestigious names in the past, but a Mountaineer has yet to win the award.
The Walter Camp Award is given annually to the collegiate football player of the year, as decided by the Walter Camp Football Foundation. The list of recipients is littered with notable names in college football history, such as Bo Jackson, Ricky Williams, Matt Leinhart, Cam Newton, Joe Burrow, and last year’s winner Jayden Daniels to name a few. Every player to win the award since 2013 (Jameis Winston) is currently on an NFL roster.
