Ceili McCabe and Amy Cashin competed in the first round of the Olympic event earlier today, earning times of 9:20.71 and 9:32.93 respectively.
McCabe competed in the second of three heats for the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase, representing Canada. Her time of 9:20.71 was about four seconds shy of the time needed to advance to the Steeplechase final.
Cashin was featured in the third of the three heats and represented Australia. Her 9:32.93 was roughly 15 seconds away from advancing to the final.
The Women’s 3000m Steeplechase Final will take place this Tuesday at 3:14 p.m. EST. It will feature 15 athletes from 10 different countries, with the United States, Germany, Ethiopia and Kenya all having multiple representatives.
