WVU Swimming & Diving Coach Places 1st in Olympic Semifinals

Sydney Pickrem, WVU’s Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach, swam in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley earlier this afternoon.

With a time of 2:09:65, Pickrem advances to the finals for the Olympic event. The Team Canada representative was 3rd for the first 100 meters, but finished ahead of China’s Yu Yiting by 0.09 seconds to win the heat.

Pickrem will swim in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley Final will take place tomorrow afternoon at 3:08 p.m. EST. Her 2:09.65 ranked as the fifth best time in the semifinal heats. Pickrem will be joined by fellow Team Canada representative Summer McIntosh, who placed second in her semifinal heat with a time of 2:08.30.
