As a new era draws nearer for WVU Swimming & Diving, new assistant coach Sydney Pickrem is adding to her extensive qualifications.
Pickrem, a competitor in the last three Summer Olympic Games on behalf of Canada, kicked off her appearance in Paris on Wednesday morning with an impressive swim.
In the women’s 200-meter breaststroke heat round, Pickrem placed 13th overall, breaking into the 16-person semifinal round on Wednesday evening. Pickrem finished in 2:25.45, 3.88 seconds behind the top finisher in the round and 2.82 seconds off of her personal best in the 50-meter course.
Sydney Pickrem is currently scheduled to compete in the semifinals of the 200-meter breaststroke on behalf of Canada at 4:03 p.m. ET on Wednesday. The threat of rescheduling is looming, but no direct time change has been announced. Pickrem will swim in lane one of the second heat in the semifinals.
