The sophomore running back announced the switch from 22 to 1 earlier tonight on social media.
White had an impressive freshman campaign, rushing for 842 yards and four touchdowns with 109 attempts. He also made the most of his five receptions, taking them for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
When it was pointed out to White by fans that the number has previously been worn by wide receiver Tavon Austin, the running back responded with nothing but respect. He also stated that he “100%” understands the assignment he’s put into himself.
