Early access to EA Sports’ College Football 25 video game has been out for over a week now and fans of the video game franchise could not be more happy.
It has been over a decade since the previous college football game was released and EA wanted to make the wait worthwhile with new features particular to schools. West Virginia has multiple specific features, which will be touched upon in the following.
Backyard Brawl
The game will be presented as the Backyard Brawl when the Mountaineers play Pitt. Announcers will give facts and history of the long and storied rivalry throughout the matchup.
First Down Chant
When at home, when the Mountaineers get a first down the crowd can be heard doing the prominent first down chant. When a first down is achieved the crowd will chant “W-V-U *clap* first down”.
Home Introduction
When playing at home, announcers will introduce WVU by saying “From Steve Slaton to Pat White to Pat McAfee, they love their Mountaineers in Morgantown. And in a place known for Yann Dogs and pepperoni rolls, probably some liquid refreshments, the Mountaineer faithful are ready to go here in Morgantown.”
Let’s Go Mountaineers Chant
Another feature while playing at home with momentum, the crowd can be heard doing the famous ‘Let’s Go Mountaineers Chant’. You’ll hear one side of the stadium chant ‘Let’s Go’ in unison and a couple of seconds later the other side will answer with ‘Mountaineers’.
Mountaineer Pushups
After select touchdowns, the West Virginia mascot, the Mountaineer can be seen doing pushups. For those who are unaware, the Mountaineer does a pushup for each point scored by WVU and it has been integrated into the video game.
Themed Crowds
West Virginia has two themed home crowds in EA CFB 25. The first is ‘stripe the stadium’, where fans will either be wearing gold or blue depending on their section, giving the stands a striped look just like in real life. The other is ‘gold rush’, where everyone in the stands will be wearing gold.
Turnover Helmet
After big turnovers, the player who created the turnover could be seen wearing the turnover mining helmet and looking at a camera, with his ‘hyped’ teammates surrounding him. Other teams have turnover chains and basketball hoops which the player will dunk a football.
