West Virginia Ranks 10th in 2024 MLB Draft Slot Value

Players drafted out of West Virginia University earned the 10th highest amount of signing bonus slot money out of any college in the nation.

Five Mountaineers were drafted in the 2024 MLB Draft, headlined by 7th overall pick JJ Wetherholt. Other Mountaineers drafted include David Hagaman (4th round), Aidan Major (5th round), Derek Clark (9th round), and Tyler Switalski (16th round). Combined, those five players signed for $8,018,500 in signing bonus slot money.

West Virginia is the only Big 12 school in the Top 10 rankings for slot value. Every school ahead of them with the exception of Oregon State comes from the SEC or ACC conferences.

Notably, this ranking doesn’t include any high school commits. That excludes 2nd round draft pick Griffin Burkholder, a West Virginia commitment, from being included. The slot value for his pick was worth $1.35 million. That would put West Virginia within the Top 6 schools if included.
