MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (July 17, 2024) – Senior Hayden Cooper of the West Virginia University baseball team has signed an undrafted free agent contract with the New York Mets.

In his one year with WVU, Cooper made 17 appearances on the mound with eight starts, going 1-4 with a 6.40 ERA. He struck out 32 batters in 52.0 innings pitched.

Cooper is the first Mountaineer to start his professional career with the Mets since Grant Psomas was drafted in the 15th round by New York in 2004.
