David Hagaman Drafted by Texas Rangers

West Virginia pitcher David Hagaman was selected in the fourth round of the MLB draft by the Texas Rangers.

Hagaman was one of the Mountaineers go-to arms out of the bullpen before suffering a season ending injury in 2024. The redshirt sophomore pitched 35 innings this season, notching 49 strikeouts and two saves, holding a 5.91 ERA.

As a redshirt freshman in 2023, Hagaman was named a NCBWA Freshman All-American and All-Big 12 Honorable Mention with 40 strikeouts in 38.1 innings pitched and a 3.52 ERA. He becomes the second Mountaineers selected in the MLB draft as the final pick of the fourth round, behind shortstop JJ Wetherholt who went No. 7 overall to the Washington Nationals.
