It’s that time of the year in the NBA where players get the chance to put on an NBA jersey and compete to show the league and the world what kind of basketball talent they possess in hopes to make an NBA roster.
Every time this year, it also gives college fans a chance to root on and watch their former favorite players compete at the next level. For WVU, there are five former Mountaineers playing in the 2025 NBA Summer League. Those players are:
Jesse Edwards (Timberwolves), Gabe Osabuihien (Cavaliers), RaeQuan Battle (Hornets), Erik Stevenson (Wizards), and Emmitt Matthews Jr (Hawks).
Battle took advantage of his first game in the Summer League, producing at a very efficient rate. He shot 4-6 from three for 12 total points with a rebound and a steal to go with it. All of that came in just 12 minutes of play.
Also getting his first Summer League action on Friday night was Jesse Edwards, the center from this most recent WVU season. While the big man was unable to score, Edwards finished with two rebounds, an assist, and two blocks in over 15 minutes of play.
The 6-foot-11 big man played a great impact on the defensive side of the ball and was a key protector of the Timberwolves paint in Friday’s matchup.
More action of all WVU players and Summer League teams will continue daily in Las Vegas as more and more players compete to make a name for themselves in the highest league in the world.
