Representing the state of West Virginia is something that Sean Martin has always been good at. Ever since high school when martin was ranked as the number one recruit in the state by both ESPN and Rivals, Martin has had the Mountain State’s attention.
Now going into his senior season repping the Gold and Blue, Martin will take the podium with some other fellow Mountaineers and head coach Neal Brown at the Big 12 Media days In Las Vegas. The team selected four players to travel and speak; Garrett Greene, Wyatt Milum, and Aubrey Burks were the other three alongside Martin.
In his freshman season following Covid, the 6-foot-5 defensive lineman saw action in all 13 games totaling 213 snaps of defense. The immediate impact made fans very excited to see Martin’s future.
Fast forward to last season, the Bluefield, West Virginia native had his best season yet. Martin started in all 13 games and finished with 27 tackles, including 15 solo stops, one sack, five tackles for loss, four quarterback hurries and one blocked field goal.
The work during the Spring was not unnoticed by the coaching staff for Martin as he was one of five Mountaineers to be recognized as the most outstanding performers in WVU’s offseason strength and conditioning program.
Big 12 Media Days will be July 9 and 10 in Las Vegas. WVU is set to have their designated podium time on Wednesday with Neal Brown taking the stand at 2:40 p.m.
