White, Slaton Rank Third on All-Time Best Playmaking Duos List

CBS Sports released their top 50 all-time best playmaking duos list yesterday, with West Virginia’s Pat White and Steve Slaton ranking in the top three.

White and Slaton only trail two other duos, being USC’s quarterback Matt Leinhart and running back Reggie Bush, along with Florida’s quarterback Tim Tebow and wide receiver Percy Harvin.

The West Virginia duo played together from 2005 to 2007, during which White and Slaton amassed a combined 7,429 rushing yards and 89 rushing touchdowns. Additionally, they added on 805 yards and five touchdowns through 65 receptions. Under their leadership, the Mountaineers secured two Big East championships. They also appeared in three consecutive bowl appearances, including the prestigious Sugar and Fiesta Bowls. Additionally, the team achieved 11 wins in each of the three seasons the duo was on the field together.

Slaton finished fourth in Heisman voting on 2006 with 1,744 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns from scrimmage. White also secured back-to-back top 10 finishes in Heisman voting in 2007 and 2008. Their most productive year together was arguably 2006, when Slaton’s performance was complemented by White’s 1219 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.
