West Virginia’s Ceili McCabe Qualifies for the 2024 Olympics

The Mountaineers will be represented in Paris this summer, as McCabe finished first in the 3,000 meter steeplechase earlier tonight with a time of 9:32.97. She will represent the Canadian National Team, as she’s from Vancouver, Canada.

McCabe has been a First-Team All-American for both indoor and outdoor season three times each. She set West Virginia’s program record in the mile final at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship with a time of 4:29.26 back in March of this year. She has also broken program records for the 3,000 meter and the 3,000 meter steeplechase during her time in Morgantown. McCabe also holds a Canadian National Record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:20.58, earning a first-place finish at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix in May.

Look for McCabe during the Olympics’ women’s 3,000 meter steeplechase event, which will begin on August 4th with the first round. From there, the women’s 3,000 meter steeplechase final will take place on August 6th.
