One of the nation’s most premier and explosive running backs, Jahiem White is set to return to Morgantown after an extremely successful freshman campaign.
In his first season in the Gold and Blue, White quickly rose up the depth chart, playing in 12 games and starting in three by the end of the year. He finished the season averaging a school-record 7.7 yards per rush for a total of 842 yards and four rushing touchdowns.
On top of the explosive runs, White also made his pass catching abilities well known, posting five catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns including a 75 yard catch and run touchdown.
After the hype around the York, Pa. native started to grow, White earned Freshman All-American honors from three separate sources. The Athletic, PFF and ON3 all gave White the recognition for best freshman running back in the country.
White’s best game came against Cincinnati at home this past season when he rushed for a season-high 204 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown. The game was his first career start and he also added the 75-yard catch and run touchdown to his total as well. After the game White was awarded with the WVU Offensive Champion, given to the team’s most outstanding offensive player after a win.
The sky is the limit next season not just for White but the entire WVU rushing attack. Behind one the of the strongest offensive-line units in the country, the trio of White, Garrett Greene, and CJ Donaldson all bring a unique rushing ability.
White is great out of the backfield with his hands and super explosive with the ball, Greene is elusive as a QB, and Donaldson brings the downhill heavy-hitting style. When you put all three together, defenses could spend the entire game trying to catch up with WVU’s play.
With there so much for WVU fans to be excited for in the 2024 football season, Jahiem White sits atop of it all.
